About the Center for Spiritual Direction
Mission Statement
Rooted in the Catholic identity and Passionist charism of Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center, the Center for Spiritual Direction is a place where spiritual seekers and spiritual guides connect to form lasting relationships.
About our Center
While spiritual direction has always been a part of our ministry at Holy Family, we decided in 2023 to pursue a formal Center for Spiritual Direction on our campus as a resource for our community members to deepen their spiritual journeys. The Center was formed under the direction of a Guiding Board and launched in 2024. The Center enriches a longstanding and robust tradition of spiritual programming at Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center including overnight retreats, days and evenings of reflection, contemplative practices, and programs in art, music, and environmental spirituality.
Our Passionist Charism
St. Paul of the Cross (b. 1694- d. 1775), the founder of the Passionist congregation, placed a special emphasis on promoting and developing the spiritual lives of the Catholic faithful. He was well known for inviting lay people into the monastery for the purpose of spiritual renewal and he himself served as a spiritual director to both lay and ordained Catholics. His commitment to the spiritual life endures today in the charisms of the Passionist community and lives on through a global network of Passionist retreat houses and spiritual centers.
